| Sun 29th July | Ironman (Full Triathlon) | Bolton Lancashire | Full Ironman event consist of jumping in a lake (the first of them do this at 6am) and swim 2.6 miles, they then get out of the water, take just enough time to get out of their wetsuit, then jump on to a pushbike and ride 112 miles (lots of it up and down some very steep hills), 2 years ago one of the traffic police check the speed of one of them going down hill and it was 76 miles an hour, as A member of RAYNET, I do radio cover on this event, and I am usually mobile, I have to do over 40mph to keep up with them on the flat, after they finish the cycling they jump off quickly put on running shoes, then run 26 miles. |
